Poured Concrete Walls
Advantages of Poured Concrete Walls
-
Design Flexibility: Able to be poured into almost any shape, curve, or design.
-
Energy Effiency: More energy efficent than block, stone, or wood foundations.
-
Strength and Durability: Poured walls are stronger than block and when properly water proofed will last a lifetime.
-
Solid soundproofing when compared to block walls.
-
Takes less time than CMU block walls.
-
Poured walls don't have joints, so they are easier to waterproof.

Disadvantages of Poured Concrete Walls
-
Lacks the built in insulation and vapor barrier of ICFs. We address this issue with tar, extruded polystyrene and dimplemat to waterproof poured and block foundations.
-
Requires access for large forms and typically a crane.
-
Concrete forms are expensive. Poured walls can be more expensive than CMU block.
-
Low R-values, poured walls have an R-value of less than 3.
