We understand construction because we are builders ourselves. Our team provides solutions customized to your specific needs, ensuring that every project is a success.

Block Foundations

Block foundations are constructed from concrete blocks, mortar, and rebar.  Block foundations provide strong vertical compression strength, while poured concrete offers superior lateral strength. Block foundations are more susceptible to leaks, and are more labor-intensive to construct than poured foundations or ICFs.

Advantages of Block Walls

  • Fit in small spaces - very effective foundations for additions, tight spaced, or small/low walls.

  • Blocks are simple to install and do not require forms or machinery like poured walls.

  • Reinforced with steel rebar and filled with mortar to create a strong foundation.

Disadvantages of Block Walls.

  • Block walls involve a large amount of labor, so are less cost effective as the size of a project increases.  CMUs are heavy to handle weighing between 36-42 lbs.

  • Not as strong as ICFs or poured walls.

  • Insulation and water proofing my be applied after installation using the same methods as poured walls unlike ICFs.

  • CMUs are less dense than poured concrete so are less durable and more prone to leaking, cracking etc.

  • CMU block walls have a low R-value of 2-3.
